First, take la look at this table:
year 1650--------- 16 + 1= 17th century
year 1212--------- 12 + 1= 13th century

Years and centuries BEFORE the birth of Jesus are called B.C.
Con los años y siglos antes del nacimiento de Jesucristo se usa B.C. (a. C. en español) For example:
1000 B.C.
10th century B.C.
Years and centuries AFTER the birth of Jesus are called A.D.
Con los años y siglos después del nacimiento de Jesucristo se usa A.D. (d.C. en español) For example:
1560 A.D.
5th century A.D.
